The evening of April 6 will be a great one for bird and nature lovers and photographers.  Following light refreshments at the reception from 6:30 to 7:30, we will have presentations by three wonderful photographers.

Liron Gertsman
www.lirongertsman.com

Liron has been interested in nature since he was a toddler, and started photographing birds at age five or six.  Although only 18, he has already won multiple awards and was recently the featured photographer for the British Columbia Field Ornithologists Association.  He sees his photographs as a way to achieve his goal of spreading love and appreciation for nature.

This will be his second presentation at this event.

Ron Long

Ron worked as a professional photographer at Simon Fraser University for 36 years.  For much of that time he photographed exclusively for the Biological Sciences Department, and so has a great deal of biology in his background.

Now retired, Ron travels regularly to interesting places around the world to, of course, take pictures.  Nature photography in general, and wildflowers in particular, are his preferred subjects.

Closer to home, Ron has worked for the last eight years to preserve one of his favorite wildflower locations in the far north of BC.

During his brief periods at home Ron enjoys giving talks about his experiences to interested groups.

Ron is past president of the Native Plant Society of BC, is active in the Vancouver Natural History Society, and is on the board of the Alpine Garden Club.

Yuri Choufour
https://www.yurichoufour.com/

Yuri is a Canadian nature & travel photographer, who’s been fascinated with the natural world since early childhood.  He didn’t pick up his first camera until age twenty, but quickly got hooked on photographing wildlife, landscapes, and his outdoor adventures, which eventually inspired him to pursue it professionally.

After obtaining a diploma in professional photography, and an award for photojournalism, he completed an internship with the Calgary Herald. In 2010 he sought out assisting opportunities with Art Wolfe Inc. & found world travel and teaching photography to be some of his true callings.

Choufour is most driven to create images that cultivate a greater appreciation for the natural world. His photos are sold to galleries, tourism companies, as fine art prints, and cards/calendars.  His first book projects are in the works.  He also shoots a diverse array of video assignments for various clients.

Yuri travels for a large part of the year, teaching photography in the polar regions, and across North America.  He has taught at over fifty photo workshops to date, & though a Nikon shooter himself, is also very adept with Canon DSLR’s, and an expert with Adobe Lightroom Classic CC.  Yuri feels very lucky to call British Columbia home, and loves to hike, snowboard & mountain bike in his own backyard when time allows.
